The 1080 was released in 2011 as a product with excellent cushioning for runners who land neutrally and do not have to worry about excessive leg collapse. It was completed by bringing together the best of New Balance 's technology, including N2, their proud cushioning technology.
The series, which has been highly praised mainly in the American market, has continued to evolve every season, but in 2016 it will undergo a major transformation. It adopted FRESH FOAM for the midsole. While the general sole technology at the time was structured by adding another unit to the midsole, FRESH FOAM is composed of a single synthetic resin. By combining it with the uneven honeycomb structure on the surface, the concave part provides appropriate cushioning through its softness, while the convex part provides stability through its moderate hardness. It enables smooth center of gravity movement from landing to kicking off. After that, functionality was enhanced by adopting a 3D heel counter that integrates the heel and the shoe, and a HYPOKNIT upper designed by deriving areas that require stretch and support from data.
