Originally developed to be the best running shoe on the market, these shoes were first introduced 40 years ago.
Since then, the design has been updated and the number of color variations has increased, but the 990's coveted status has remained the same.
The 990 Series is so amazing that it keeps us coming back to build it.

The updated 990v6 design does away with the traditional midfoot saddle and instead features pigskin suede and synthetic leather overlays that flow from heel to toe over the mesh upper.
While this visually evolved design is one of the most dramatic changes from the last-generation model to this one, the biggest functional leap actually happens under the hood.
With the added cushioning, rebound and lightweight nature of the FuelCell midsole, the evolution of the 990 becomes clear the more you look at it.

The 990 series, representing New Balance, was born in 1982 as running shoes for on-road use.
Developed using the latest technology, it was released for $100, a very expensive price at the time.
It became a hot topic when its advertisements at the time boasted that it scored "990 points out of a possible 1000," and it has since continued to evolve through 14 generations, with the 995, 996, 997, 998, 999, 990, 991, 992, 993, 990v3, 990v4, 990v5, and 990v6.
Since its original release, this series has always been manufactured in factories in the United States and is a legendary part of the brand, embodying New Balance craftsmanship and functionality.
The 990's unique minor changes, which have been repeated to slightly update the classic silhouette, are the result of 40 years of technical development and continue to implement the original instructions of New Balance owner Jim Davis, solidifying its status as a premium sneaker.

初めて990シリーズを購入しました。
ニューバランスの他のモデルは何個も履いてきましたが、990v6は別次元でした。ABZORB使用のモデルとは違った履き心地で、FuelCellはとても柔らかくクッション性に優れていると感じました。今まで履いた他のメーカーのスニーカーと比べても、履き心地は断トツで1番良かったです。

990番はv3.v4の次に購入しました。
結論から言うと良いスニーカーです。
硬さ、フィット感含めてバランスの良いスニーカーだと思います。アッパーのフィットも柔らかすぎ無いので歩きやすくなっています。軽さも相当軽く仕上がっていて足運びは文句ないです。
踵は柔らかくつま先は程よい感じも疲れ知らずですね。万能型の素晴らしいスニーカーに仕上がってると思います。

NewBalance990v6は2足目で、普段880や1880で4E25.5cmを履いています。
1880は踏み込むとふんわりした感じ（決して悪いフィーリングじゃありません）ですが、990v6はより地面を踏みしめる感じがあります。
素材感含め細部の作りが「さすが高級モデル」という感じがしますし、履き心地の良さもその作りがプラスに影響していると思います。
最近流行りの厚めのソールの近代的なデザインだと自分は思いますが、他のトラディショナルなNewBalanceのモデルと一線を画しつつ、カジュアルにも合うデザインで気に入りました。次はブラックを買おうと思います。

軽いし歩きやすい。見た目もカッコいい。ほとんど大満足だが、かかとが少し疲れた点が気になる。996と比較すると、996の方が初めて履いたときの感動が大きかった気がする。何度も履くと馴染んでくるのか確認したい。

クッション性と安定性を両立したモデルで、履き心地が最高です。長時間歩く事が分かっている日は必ず選びます。カラーリングもヘリテージグレーでどんな服装にも合わせやすく、とても重宝する一足です。
個人的には他のモデルに比べて少し長いような気がします。もしこのモデルをお待ちでない方は、店舗で試し履きをしてから購入されることをおすすめします。
