New Balance's outdoor wear "MT1996" is clothing that can be used in a wide range of situations, such as "picnics with the family in the park," "playing in the river," and "glamping with friends," as well as light outdoor activities that anyone can enjoy.
The "MT580" is an iconic model of "90s + MOUNTAIN TRAIL" and a shoe that can be said to have been nurtured by the culturally mixed Japanese market.
The "MT1996" collection was launched with the concept of "What if we had developed apparel that would match these shoes head to toe at the time?" The "1996" in the collection name comes from the year the "MT580" was born.
The collection's logo is a triangular logo graphic inspired by the ROLLBAR, a symbol of the mid-school technology featured in the MT580.
By delving deeper into the technology and design of the "MT580," and incorporating New Balance philosophy from various angles, such as pattern work, cutting-edge material development, and the adoption of environmentally friendly materials, the "MT1996" collection was born, fitting a modern outdoor lifestyle.
The new Spring/Summer "MT1996" collection is based on the concept of "a rash guard you can wear around town", and uses "Primeflex", a bi-component structure with a cross section made by bonding two different types of polymers together. It has a natural textured appearance and a dry hand feel, while also being sweat-wicking, quick-drying, 4-way stretch, UPF40+ and weather-resistant.
It is also ideal for protecting against sunburn and UV rays.
