Inspired by the inner mind and hidden aspects of personality, the collection explores this concept through subtle and intricate visual effects.
The footwear features hidden camouflage pattern details to accentuate the design, paying homage to the deep association between hip hop culture and camouflage patterns.
For this collection, Joe Freshgoods has taken a departure from his previous pastel-toned collaborations with New Balance, creating subtle and purposeful designs that are both alluring and rugged.
The concept of "Beneath the Surface" is explored from two different angles: the hidden custom camouflage patterns on the footwear are a metaphor for hidden thoughts and processes within the mind, and the footwear itself has more hidden details and function than meets the eye.
Through attention to detail and hidden functionality, they add layers of depth and complexity to their footwear, elevating them to intelligent and stimulating pieces that are more than just stylish accessories.
When Roe Whittaker, veteran climber and co-founder of guide service Rainier Mountaineering, hurt his toe, he tried hiking in New Balance tennis shoes.
It was so comfortable that he suggested to New Balance that they add a textured sole.
The result was the New Balance Rainier, a lightweight, durable lace-up hiking boot.
In 1982, Whittaker, wearing Rainier boots designed specifically for hiking, led the first American team to successfully climb the north face of Mount Everest.
This collaboration with Joe Freshgoods features an upper construction with a combination of nubuck overlays and underlays with a custom JFG camouflage print.
It's also been updated to an all-weather specification with Gore-Tex® throughout, and the Vibram outsole provides durability and reliable traction.

見た目ゴツゴツしているのに、実物は軽くてビックリです！
フィット感もバッチリで脱げにくく、アウトソールもビブラムということでかなり機能的。
こういう靴まで展開されていることに感謝です。

履けなくなります…。
冬でも雪上を歩けそうなNBの
靴をと思い購入。
新雪、圧雪、問題なく歩けます。
凍結路は凍結対策を謳う靴でも
滑るのでこんなもんかな?？
とにかく雪の中でもNBを履ける
のが良いです！
